Inside Comedy welcomes submissions for interviews, reviews and features. Please read our terms of service carefully before submitting any work to us.
With so many stand-up shows, festivals, films, television and radio programmes on offer, there is plenty of opportunity for you to contribute to Inside Comedy.
We would like to hear from comedy aficionados, performers and fans with a keen interest in writing features, reviews and interviews.
Inside Comedy sadly cannot pay for published submissions because the publication is not-for-profit nor can we guarantee that submitted work will be published in the e-zine.
What we want
We want original works that are:
1. Well researched and well written.
2. Intelligent and insightful.
Before you send in your submission please e-mail your idea to us to avoid possible duplication and to give us an opportunity to schedule your work into our production timetable if we decide to publish your work.
If you want to submit work that has appeared in another publication (online or offline) you must get the express permission of the original copyright holder or licensee. We will need written confirmation from you that you have obtained their permission.
Equally, if you want to publish or re-use work that has appeared on Inside Comedy you will need our express permission to do so.
1. Interviews and features should be between 350 and 1,600 words in length.
2. Reviews should be between 250 and 1,800 words in length.
Submissions should be sent as an e-mail attachment either as a Microsoft Word, Rich Format Text or Text Format document. Please do not cut and paste your submission into the body of your e-mail.
Images
You will need to attach 3 to 4 good images, such as photos, with your submission to cover the homepage and the interview, review and feature.
We want images that are:
a) clear and sharp;
b) no less than 600 points x 400 points in size; and
c) sent as an email attachment in jpeg format.
Images can be obtained directly from the comedian - most comedians have their own websites with downloadable images or from their agent/publicist.
If your submission is a review on a film, you can contact the film distributor or press office for images. For television and radio reviews contact the broadcasters’ press office or picture publicity department.
If you cannot provide us with images we may not be able to publish your work.
It is important that we credit photos and other images wherever possible for copyright reasons, so please provide us with details of where you obtained the images and who the author of the image is.
Reviews
If you are submitting a review please:
a) indicate whether you are reviewing a stand-up/live show, film, radio or television programme;
b) provide details of the venue, the date you saw the show and any future dates the comedian will be performing at the venue
c) indicate, in whole numbers, what your score out of five is for the show, film, radio or television programme, and
d) provide relevant web links.
Where to send your submission
Before you send your submission please:
1. Proof-read your work.
2. Check your work for grammatical and spelling errors.
3. Check your work is within the permitted word length.
Once you are satisfied with your work send it to info(at)insidecomedy(dot)co(dot)uk. We cannot provide feedback on work that has not been published. Keep trying if your work does not get published first time around. We are always interested in receiving submissions.
